A Sunshine Coast celebrity cook and her family have been the victims of a “brazen” car theft which has left a police officer with minor injuries.

4 Ingredients founder Kim McCosker has called for action on “out of control” juvenile crime after three cars and other items were stolen from her Pelican Waters home overnight.

Ms McCosker said the stolen cars were “distinctive” and included a Mini Country Man with a 4 Ingredients logo, her husband’s Range Rover and her son’s “pride a joy”, a collectable Toyota Supra.

Ms McCosker said the Range Rover was allegedly seen at the Puma petrol station on Bowman Road, where the driver allegedly drove off without paying for fuel and “waved” at the security camera.

According to a police statement, officers found Ms McCosker’s Mini Country Man driving on Nicklin Way about 4am and began a pursuit.

The driver of the stolen car led police into Finch Court at Bokarina before allegedly ramming the police car after reaching a dead end.

A senior constable suffered minor injuries in the crash.

The driver fled the scene on foot and the car was towed.

About the same time, the stolen Range Rover and white Toyota Supra were seen on Caloundra Road.

A tyre deflation device was successfully deployed on both stolen cars before police lost sight of the vehicles, which they say were later seen travelling at speed towards Caboolture along the Pumicestone Road overpass.

Ms McCosker said they knew the Range Rover had been driven over the Gateway Bridge at 7.34am, as they could see the charge on their toll account.

A silver Mazda hatchback and a group of children observed around Columbia Place in Pelican Waters early on Monday morning was also believed to be linked to the incident.

Ms McCosker said making sure her children were okay was her first priority after the theft but her focus now was trying to find the two cars which were still missing.

She said there were at least five people involved in the incident; one was seen driving her car, one in the Toyota Supra and three people were seen in the Range Rover when it was seen at the petrol station.

She said the Toyota Supra was reportedly seen about 8.30am at the Morayfield Road and Paradise Road intersection.

Ms McCosker said luck was on the alleged thieves’ side after they managed to avoid triggering any sensor lights or alarms.

She said the alleged thieves took her handbag and car keys and her husband’s car keys from the kitchen, as well as other items including iPads.

She said all of the keys to the Toyota Supra were accounted for, and believed they knew the value of the car and had hot-wired it.

Ms McCosker called for something to be done about juvenile crime in the region.

“(It’s) out of control,” she said.

“They’re just getting more and more brazen, they know they can get away with it.

“The current system is just not deterring these kids, when they turn around and smile at the security (cameras) … that system’s not working.”

Ms McCosker thanked the Pelican Waters community for their help.

“The community we live in is just so beautiful, they’ve rallied behind us to help,” she said.

“Just incredible support.”

Anyone with information related to the incident, or the whereabouts of the Range Rover or Toyota Supra, is encouraged to contact police.
