A huge recreational precinct complete with escape rooms, restaurant, golf driving range and more has been proposed for a semi-rural Sunshine Coast suburb.

Project Urban lodged a development application with Sunshine Coast Council on behalf of Clark Enterprises No. 2 Pty Ltd to build an indoor and outdoor sport and recreation development with restaurant, craft distillery and function facility.

The proposed 29.9ha site located at 76 David Low Way, Diddillibah is described in application documents as vacant grazing land with agricultural pursuits known as Diddillibah Farm.

The farm has been used for light grazing for the past 25 years, documents state.

Planned recreational facilities include a miniature golf course and driving range, padel tennis and pickleball courts, escape rooms and a single-storey clubhouse featuring a restaurant, bar, craft distillery and function facility.

The miniature course will provide an 18-hole putt-putt area and the padel tennis courts are intended to cater to the growing popularity of the sport.

A playground has also been implemented into designs to contribute to the “family-oriented nature”.

Documents state the driving range would consist of 60 fully roofed bays across two levels, with each bay 8m in length and 3.1m in width, alongside a kiosk, bar and concourse area.

Documents state the proposed development would engage residents in recreational activities to benefit health and spark “community, youth development and social cohesion”.

“The proposal will also boost the local economy by attracting tourists, create jobs, and promoting accessibility and inclusivity,” documents state.

The proposed site is located in a rural zone, requiring the plans to be subject to public notification down the line.

Surrounding businesses include Ingenia Holidays Rivershore, Harbourside Holiday Resort, Waterfront Hotel and Erbacher’s Fruit and Vegetables.

The Maroochydore Multi-Sports Complex is also a four-minute drive away.

It was suggested in documents the development would contribute to and support a “prosperous, high-value economy” on the Sunshine Coast through new business, investment and employment opportunities.

“The proposal enhances the Sunshine Coast’s global positioning by introducing unique recreational facilities that attract international and domestic visitors, contributing to the region’s success as an investment location,” documents state.
