A small plane has made an emergency landing on a popular Sunshine Coast beach after a reported engine failure.
Onlookers have applauded the pilot for saving the lives of those on board.
A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said a small plane landed at Bulcock Beach, Caloundra, on the Sunshine Coast, at 9am this morning.
She said there were no injuries.
Tomas Murray, a flight instructor, said the engine failed.
“Instructor and student on board,” he said in a comment on Facebook.
“Instructor did an amazing job, followed all correct procedures during the emergency.
“The engine failed in some way. We don’t know the details and will be investigating.
“Plane is okay but will be assessed by flight engineers and a report will be made.
“No further comment required.”
Another onlooker described what they saw as the plane descended.
“Went lower and disappeared behind the trees from where I was,” Thomas Haberkorn said.
“I thought it would crash.
“Passenger told me both are okay.”
Matt Dicinoski commended the pilot for his landing.
“Fantastic piloting,” he said.
“Saved lives.
“Saved the plane.”
