Investigations into improving road safety in Palmwoods will continue, according to the State Government.
A Transport Department spokesman said the government would continue to look at solutions to further improve road conditions in the growing hinterland town.
It comes after the department revealed it would lower the speed limit from 50km/h to 40km/h from as early as next week.
"These investigations take into consideration council's 'Place Making Palmwoods' master plan," the spokesman said.
"Key stakeholders and the local community will be advised of any proposed safety improvements resulting from this process."
The Sunshine Coast Daily launched the Pave the way for Palmwoods campaign in early-April after the community was left frustrated by a lack of action in the town.
Residents and businesses joined forces to have their say on road safety, calling for urgent upgrades to several key intersections and speed mitigation through the main street.
The campaign can now cross off reducing the speed limit after the State Government confirmed the speed limit along Margaret Street would be lowered to 40km/h on a 500m section of road, from east of the Chevallum Road intersection to west of the post office.
Work to install revised speed limit signs is scheduled for Tuesday, June 8, with residents and nearby businesses to be notified in the coming days.
Nicklin MP Rob Skelton announced the news in Palmwoods on Wednesday afternoon.
Mr Skelton said the State Government was continuing to work with Sunshine Coast Council to investigate options for safety improvements in Palmwoods.
"We will ensure the community is advised and consulted about any further changes that are recommended following the completion of these investigations," he said.
A Sunshine Coast Council spokeswoman said the council met with the Department of Transport and Main Roads in May to discuss the road network's future.
"To assist (the Department of Transport and Main Roads) with its review, council provided the Placemaking Palmwoods Master plan."
