OPINION
IF MICHAEL Slater calms down enough to ever read, I hope he reads this.
Mick, you need to tone things down about 11 notches.
Now I'm nowhere near a fan of Twenty20 cricket.
But the Big Bash on TV every night is a much better option than the slow torture of anything else on commercial television.
At least that's what I'd always believed.
Until Wednesday night.
Three hours of your unhinged, 100-mile-an-hour noise is too much.
Channel 10 had the commentary mix just about spot-on for the past few years.
No rusted-on has-beens, gender variety, and blokes with plenty of wit who also knew when to keep quiet.
Sly digs at each other in the commentary box made the viewer feel he had the inside running on a special joke.
Understated became super effective.
It was essentially the polar opposite of what you bring to the table.
Yelling like a maniac, repeating words three times in a sentence, come on.
How long have you been doing this for?
I understand, Test Cricket was your thing and T20 is a very exciting format.
But you don't need to scream like a child on their first rollercoaster from ball one to the death.
Just relax a bit mate, take a breath.
Take a leaf out of Punter's book.
Watch the game, look for the nuances, read the game, deliver cutting one-liners.
Copping you in 50 minute stints was just bearable in a Test match.
This is too much.
Please, tone it down a bit.
