Moronic move to close Sunshine Motorway for a bike race
There was a bike race on and someone had authorised the complete closure of the motorway from the Coolum roundabout to the Mooloolaba turnoff.

ON SUNDAY, we had an appointment in Caloundra at 10.30am so I left Noosa at 9am to give us plenty of time.
We arrived at 10.55am, almost two hours later, for a one-hour drive.
There was a bike race on and someone had authorised the complete closure of the motorway from the Coolum roundabout to the Mooloolaba turnoff.
Without clear notice and inconveniencing thousands of drivers and passengers.
For a bike race? Who provides this permission? Why can't part of the highway be left open?
At the Coolum roundabout, we were directed to Coolum.
At the connection to the motorway just past the airport, we were redirected to Bli Bli.
At the Esplanade, Maroochydore, we were redirected to Sunshine Plaza or Alexandra Headland, both of which were closed.
We were redirected to Wises Rd.
Eventually, after almost one and a half hours, we were directed back to the motorway south of Buderim/Mooloolaba.
Absolute chaos and massive frustration of thousands of people.
Who has the authority to okay this?
Complete morons.
Why can't it be run on secondary roads rather than the Sunshine Coast's one and only highway?
Please find out who is responsible for these poor decisions and hold them responsible.
