LETTER: Challenge set for Turnbull and Shorten

Interviewers of politicians don’t ask more leading questions with regard to saving money.

I WOULD like to know why interviewers of politicians don't ask more leading questions with regard to saving money with more alternative suggestions for reducing the deficit and therefore freeing up more money for problems such as the destruction of the coral reef and domestic violence.

Why is it that we do not have standardised education, health etc. that would save huge amounts of money in terms of government expenditure instead of having separate state entities?

We need a standard syllabus and ability of teachers to move states without having to re-apply to the different states in order to work.

Similarly, we should have the same plan for health across Australia instead of having to put up with the financial and bureaucratic fiasco created in Brisbane which costs ratepayers dearly.

I challenge Turnbull and Shorten to put more thought into reducing deficit and costs in servicing departments such as education, health, police, transport and other areas by making them standardised, equal and available across Australia to all Australians, including Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders.
