The Botanical Collective runs weekly holistic playgroups to allow young children to explore and gain a deep respect for nature through encouraging mindfulness and sensory play.
Mud kitchens, hand-built teepees, leaves and dry flowers - these are some of the tools in creator Sarah Tuckey's belt.
Mrs Tuckey previously directed a child care centre and wants to "create a sense of wonder and curiosity for young children and their parents to nourish their minds” with The Botanical Collective.
Using outdoor play to help kids learn the value of the environment is central to Mrs Tuckey's approach.
When you live somewhere as beautiful as the Sunshine Coast, raising children who value nature should be easy, she says.
Mrs Tuckey said that since the centre started in May last year she's received really positive feedback from parents.
"They say their children are more aware of their surroundings and senses,” she said. Frances Gillies attends the playgroup with her three-year-old daughter Eve and said it's a nurturing time for them both.
"We just love how peaceful and calm it is,” she said.
Mrs Gillies said she loved that her children have a place to appreciate nature without needing to do an outdoor activity like sport.
"I think it's really important to be in nature a lot, but to find a way to do it that's self-led where the children can engage.”
