Motorcycle rider in a serious condition after collision at Palmview
A helicopter landed on the Bruce Hwy to fly a motorbike rider to hospital in a serious condition after a major crash on the Sunshine Coast which shut down the highway.

A motorcycle rider has been flown to hospital in Brisbane after his motorcycle, towing a trailer, jackknifed on the Bruce Hwy at Palmview.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the man in his 50s was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a serious condition with chest, leg and arm injuries.
No one else was assessed at the scene, they said.
An RACQ Lifeflight spokesperson said in a press release the rider was thrown from the motorcycle after he lost control and it jackknifed.
A Queensland Police spokeswoman said the southbound lanes of the Bruce Hwy, starting south of the Banana Bender Pub, are closed and will remain closed for some time.
The northbound lanes were closed temporarily to allow for the helicopter to land, but will reopen soon, she said.
A Queensland Police Service spokesman said the crash was near the Pignata Rd off-ramp.
