Mooloolaba abuzz with Queensland Youth Surf Life Saving Championships
The state’s most talented young sports stars will hit Mooloolaba Beach from Thursday for the Queensland Youth Surf Life Saving Championships.

Queensland’s best young surf life savers will test their mettle at Mooloolaba from February 16-19.
The largest and most prestigious surf sports event for under-11 to under-15 age categories, the
Queensland Youth Surf Life Saving Championships will see thousands descend on the Sunshine Coast.

The event brings together the most talented young surf life savers from across the state, who will compete in a range of individual and team events. The individual events will include 1km and 2km beach runs, beach flags, sprint, surf race and surf board events.
Meanwhile, the team events will see the qualifying teams from various branch championships compete in the beach relay, surf teams, board relay and cameron relay events.
Sunshine Coast’s nippers to watch
Maroochydore enters the event as the Sunshine Coast’s leading club, after winning overall branch honours last month. Alexandra Headland will also be among the leading contenders, along with Sunshine Beach and Noosa Heads.
The senior and masters events will be staged the following week from February 24-26.
