Dozens of residents of a Sunshine Coast suburb eagerly swarmed to try out the newest CrossFit gym in the region to form an “inspiring” commitment from the community.

Mitch Clarke and Lozz Holding are co-owners of CrossFit gym Tide Athletic, which opened in Baringa in early November.

The pair, with a background pharmacology, has worked across the health industry in the past decade with more than 15 years’ combined experience in CrossFit.

“Working in the health industry you tend to see a lot of sickness,” Mr Clarke said.

“Tide Athletic is an opportunity to combine our background and passion to help move people closer to wellness.”

Mr Clarke said CrossFit was a “premium functional fitness facility” offering a structured training program delivered by Mr Clarke and Mr Holding.

“What defines us from other gyms in the area is the strong community we’ll continue to build, welcoming members regardless of their experience in fitness,” Mr Clarke said.

About 60 people visited the gym across two workout sessions during an open day on November 2 and more than 30 came to look around the facility.

Mr Clarke said the pair was “proud” of their gym community, which they could already see forming in the first week.

Members had signed up before the gym opened its doors and many celebrated with the pair on opening day, visiting the gym daily ever since.

“It’s inspiring to see this commitment from our community right from the first week,” Mr Clarke said.

From initial planning to finally swinging open their doors, it had taken Mr Clarke and Mr Holding about 14 months.

Mr Clarke said Aura was the preference for their new gym to provide a different offering to what was available.

“Every business owner dreams of one day outgrowing their space, but for now, our focus is on making sure our community keeps growing and that everyone enjoys their 60 minutes with us each day,” he said.

Tide Athletic offers open gym access to members and classes six days a week at on Packer Rd, Baringa.
