Turkey Beach man Trent Edward Dyhrberg, 36, was committed on June 16, following cross examination by his barrister Chris Minnery.

Mr Minnery asked questions of witness Christopher O’Neil who was present for the shooting.

Mr O’Neil told the court he was outside the shed when he heard a loud bang noise and said he was heavily using drugs at the time.

Mr O’Neil said Mr Dyhrberg was outside the shed when heard the bang and he also heard voices yelling inside the shed.

Mr O’Neil said he “might” have heard Mr Caulfield screaming “you f–king dog”.

The court heard that on the night of the murder, Mr O’Neil saw Mr Saurine touch his bag but didn’t see if he pulled anything out.

Witness Paul Geshwend said Mr Dyhrberg called him after the incident and said he had something to tell him.

Mr Dyhrberg went to Mr Geshwend’s house and told him what had happened, the court heard.

“When you hear that a kid has been shot dead for nothing that’s something that is going to remain with me for the rest of my life,” Mr Geshwend said.

“Trent has come over, he was crying when he told me ... he said they’d gone to a house to turn it up ... because of messages apparently being sent.

“(He said) Nathan Caulfield was on the xannies and was wigged out and shot this poor kid in the head.”

Mr Geshwend said he told Mr Dyhrberg he had to leave and that he should go to the police.

Witness Melanie Parrott said she overheard the conversation between Mr Geshwend and Mr Dyhrberg.

“Trent looked really shook up and I overheard him say something about someone shooting someone and I thought he was saying he did and he said no Corn (Mr Caulfield) did,” Ms Parrott said.

Along with the murder charges, Mr Saurine, Mr Caulfield and Mr Dyhrberg were also committed on a charge of assaulting Mr Zanco with intent to steal while armed.

Mr Saurine was allegedly armed with a machete, while Mr Caulfield and Mr Dyhrberg were allegedly armed with firearms.
