A Sunshine Coast couple known for their spectacular sourdough have just opened a new cafe in the heart of a small hinterland community – offering a beautiful selection of pastries, bread and brunch food.

Melody, 46, and Jamie Flood, 48, behind Ten Acres, have just opened their first ever cafe, Meadow Bake Shop, at Yandina.

Ms Flood said she worked meticulously to create a beautiful space for their customers and the local community.

“It took a while to get going and opened because of the massive renovation,” Mrs Flood said.

“After offering the wholesale bakery for nearly eight years we were excited to try this.

“We’re especially excited to have gotten to open our own cafe in the heart of our hometown.”

The sourdough extraordinaires have lived in Yandina for more than 20 years now.

Prior to opening their first cafe, their company 10 Acres was known for supplying traditional sourdough, delicious pastries and baked goods to various Sunshine Coast retailers, brunch spots, and restaurants. Some of these included Matsos Brewery at Eumundi, Harry’s on Buderim and Mapleton Public House.

The new cafe has been open for two weeks now and they were blown away by the support from locals.

“We’ve been so busy which is great,” Mrs Flood said.

“This has been in the works for about a year and a half now.

“It’s been a dream of ours ever since we had to stop going to local markets during the Covid pandemic.

“Most people are just after somewhere enjoyable where they can come and sit and have a coffee or meet friends.

“It’s the perfect spot to have a treat to eat.

“Something quick and easy with lots of friendly faces.”

The baking duo have employed a handful of locals who always welcome customers with a smile.

Mrs Flood said the bakery offered their signature freshly baked sourdough everyday, a range of pastries, sweets, cookies, and cakes; as well as cabinet food including toasties, gourmet salads and delicious sandwiches.

Coffee and tea is also available to order.

Meadow Bake Shop Yandina is open 6.30am to 2pm, Tuesday to Saturday.
