Man’s face burnt in business fire, Main St Buderim, Sunshine Coast

A young man has suffered facial and body burns, along with other injuries, after a fire at a Sunshine Coast school.

A young man has suffered facial burns after a fire at a Sunshine Coast primary school on Wednesday morning.

The Queensland Fire and Emergency Service was called to an electrical fire on Main St, Buderim, just after 11am.

A spokeswoman from the Department of Education confirmed the incident had occurred at the front of Buderim Mountain State School, however regular school activities were able to continue.

“The Department of Education can confirm an incident occurred this morning at the front of Buderim Mountain State School, involving an electrical transformer being worked on by contractors,” the spokeswoman said.

“No students or staff were in the vicinity when the incident occurred.”

A QFES spokeswoman said there were two crews on scene.

She said it was a small electrical fire which was contained within 10 minutes.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said two patients were treated on scene.

On man in his 20s suffered burns to his face and arms. He also had a cut on his arm from the incident.

He was transported to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

A man in his 30s was treated on scene and transported stable to Nambour Hospital.
