Man hit by truck in serious crash on Bruce Highway, Black Mountain

A man in his mid-20s has been rushed to a Sunshine Coast hospital after being struck by a truck on the Bruce Highway overnight as forensic police probe the incident.

A young man has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a truck on the Bruce Highway overnight.

The 24-year-old Sunshine Coast resident was hit by a semi-trailer on the Sunshine Coast at Black Mountain in the northbound lanes of the highway about 12.30am Wednesday, November 15.

He was rushed to Sunshine Coast University Hospital by critical care paramedics with a “significant head injury” and as of Wednesday afternoon he remained in a serious condition.

Forensic Crash Unit officer in charge Sergeant Sherryn Klump said the incident was being treated as non-suspicious incident and there was no indication at this stage of negligence on behalf of the truck driver.

The crash came after a man in his 70s was earlier taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition after a car crashed into a fence on Cottonwood St, Mudjimba, about 9.40pm Tuesday, November 14.

The highway incident follows the death of a 19-year-old man on another major Sunshine Coast road in February after Sorawit Nganprateepkul lost his life in a tragic Sunshine Motorway incident.
