Man fighting for life after boat crash

A man is in a critical condition after a boat collided with a rock wall at Fisherman Islands on Moreton Bay last night.

A man is in a critical condition after a boat collided with a rock wall at Fisherman Islands on Moreton Bay last night.

The man was one of three men onboard a seven metre centre console boat returning from an afternoon fishing trip.

Initial investigations suggest that the boat was returning to the Brisbane River when it collided with the rock wall just after 8.30pm.

The driver suffered minor injuries and was breath tested at the scene before being taken to hospital, his reading was zero.

The third man received minor injuries but was not admitted to hospital.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating. The boat is expected to be recovered during daylight hours with the assistance of a crane. It is currently firmly wedged on the rocks. The accident follows a similar one on the Sunshine Coast earlier this week when a 10 metre catamaran ran into the wall at Point Cartwright, near Mooloolaba.
