THOSE brave enough to shave to raise funds for the Leukaemia Foundation can do so at The Hair Hub in Buderim.

One of Australia's biggest fundraising events, The World's Greatest Shave, encourages all ages to shave or colour their hair to help fund research for the blood cancer.

Manager Danielle Rosin said she "got involved to bring the community together and raise awareness for those who are struggling with cancer.”

The choice to host the event was a personal decision for Ms Rosin.

"Last year I had a friend's mum pass away from leukaemia and her son decided to shave his long dreadlocks for her.

"Seeing that touched home a little bit so I wanted to help out,” she said.

Ms Rosin said the event "gives the community just that bit of hope that if someone is going through a tough time that there are people out there who will support them”.

80-year-old Ray Mitchell will be shaving off his beard at The Hair Hub as a selfless attempt to raise money for the charity.

"As they say there's an Australian diagnosed with leukaemia every 41 minutes which is frightening.

"And I've had some friends who have suffered and died from leukaemia, so it's an importance cause,” he said.

Mr Mitchell will be making the big shave on March 15, from 3-6pm at The Hair Hub.
