A reward of $250,000 was offered for information leading to the arrest linked to Daniel's disappearance.

A memorial plaque was laid at the bus stop where Daniel was last seen.

Bruce and Denise Morcombe launched the Daniel Morcombe Foundation to educate children about child safety.

Police passed the investigation report to the coroner. An inquest began on October 13.
August 13, 2011
Brett Peter Cowan was arrested and charged.
Shoes and human bones were found in Beerburrum State Forest. DNA testing confirmed they were Daniel's.
November 26, 2012
Cowan's committal hearing began in Brisbane.
December 7, 2012
Daniel's funeral was held at St Catherine of Siena Church, Sippy Downs. He was buried at Woombye Cemetery.
February 10, 2014
Cowan's trial began. On March 13 he was found guilty of murder, the indecent treatment of a child and interfering with a corps. He was sentence to life in jail.
May 21, 2015.
Cowan's appeal was dismissed.
June 18, 2015
Cowan filed an application to the High Court over his conviction. The Bruce and Denise Morcombe heard about it on the TV news.
