LIQUIDATORS have been called in after the collapse of a fledgling, but popular new eatery in a northern Sunshine Coast residential pocket.
Worrells Solvency and Forensic Accountants were appointed to wind up Pots & Pans @ Peregian Pty Ltd.
The company, directed by UK native Matthew Whittaker had operated Pots & Pans Kitchen and Bar at Peregian Springs.
The company was registered in July last year, but by mid-October this year the restaurant operators had called time on their restaurant dream.
Mr Whittaker and Amara Bains, both Peregian Springs residents, were the sole shareholders of the company.
A Facebook post on October 19 announcing the sudden closure left plenty of loyal customers shattered.
"As some of you may already know we have had to close,” the post read.
"It is unexpected and a disappointment especially as Matt had just finished the new menu and we were looking forward to the warmer, busier times like when we first opened (compared to the very very quiet time of winter).
"We'd really like to thank the community who supported us and help us make it to our first year.”
The restaurant had operated out of a small set of shops in Peregian Springs, near a childcare centre, at the intersection of Balgownie Dr and Peregian Springs Dr.
There was plenty of praise for the restaurant, Mr Whittaker and Ms Bains, from customers, who lamented the loss of a high-quality establishment.
Punters spouted praise for the menu, quality of food and variety of offerings, as well as sport broadcasts on the big screen.
"We would especially like to acknowledge our terrific team who have worked really hard with us during the tough winter time,” the restaurant announcement continued.
"We have tried to pursue several options to remain open, but now it is no longer in our control. Once again, thank you for your support.”
Liquidators were appointed on Monday to wind up the company.
