Jurors took just an hour to decide the fate of a couple in their 30s who repeatedly preyed on two teen girls in Noosa and Sunshine Beach.

The trial, which kicked off on October 18 and wrapped up on October 20, involved John Patrick Meehan, 32, and Jessica Cinnamon Anderson-Grigson, 33 and related to offending which started back in 2012.

The jury found Meehan guilty of all 12 counts of indecent treatment of a child under 16, five counts of unlawful carnal knowledge, one count of maintaining an unlawful sexual relationship with a child and one count of sodomy.

Judge Glen Cash told the court Meehan’s offending concerned two victims, each of which were about 13 to 15 years of age.

Meehan, who was in his early 20s at the time, would arrange for the two friends to be brought to the Sunshine Coast by Anderson-Grigson.

He would take them to a nudist beach in Noosa and have sexual relations with them in motels and cars around the Sunshine Beach and Noosa area.

On one occasion, he had vaginal sex and anal sex with one of the complainants in a car outside Noosa Civic Centre.

“They were vulnerable young girls that you happened to meet and then exploited to satisfy your sexual perversions,” Judge Cash said.

“You plainly represent a serious danger to children.”

For the first time since the trial commenced on Monday, the court heard Meehan had committed these offences around the same time he was sexually pursuing three young children between the ages of three and six.

The offences were dealt with by Judge Long in 2019 and included charges of maintaining a sexual relationship with a child, sodomy and rape.

At the time, Judge Long sentenced Meehan to a period of 16 years and 8 months imprisonment.

For the offences against the teenage girls, Judge Cash added two years onto his prison sentence.

Anderson-Grigson was also found guilty of all her charges which included five counts of indecent treatment of a child.

Her involvement mainly took place in a shower where she engaged in sexual activities with one of the complainants who was under 16 at the time.

Anderson-Grigson had also previously been sentenced to jail by Judge Long for encouraging a young child to be raped and sodomised by Meehan.

Judge Cash added 18 months’ imprisonment to Anderson-Grigson’s 11 year and 3 month sentence she was already serving.

She will be eligible for parole on March 28, 2028.
