CONSTRUCTION on the fast-tracked second phase of an estate park is nearing completion and its playground will cater specifically to toddlers.
The new phase of Harmony’s Grand Linear Park is expected to open at the start of next year.
A treehouse, elevated walkways, a slide and climbing tower will be among the innovative play equipment the one-hectare phase will offer.
Children as young as two will be able to use the new playground designed with Harmony’s smallest adventurers in mind.
AVID general manager Queensland Bruce Harper said it was important to have a variety of green and open spaces to help encourage community engagement.
“This section of the park will be perfect for young families, with a playground, beautiful greenery, open lawns and places to relax and watch the kids have a great time,” Mr Harper said.
“The second phase of the linear park will ensure that even our youngest residents and families have access to active play areas that challenge their imagination.”
The configuration of Harmony means 90 per cent of residents live within 250m of a park and that each neighbourhood is connected to its 60km network of pedestrian path and cycleways.
“It’s vital that kids have a place to play and run around close to home – to encourage them to get outdoors, make friends, and enjoy the Sunshine Coast climate,” Mr Harper said.
Once complete, the Grand Linear Park will span 5ha through the centre of Harmony.
The first phase of Harmony’s Grand Linear Park opened in August 2018 and has since become a hub for the growing community, which is set to welcome its 1000th family by the end of this year.
