Home on fire in hinterland suburb

Firefighters have contained a blaze which has extensively damaged a Beerwah home this afternoon.

FIREFIGHTERS have contained a blaze which has extensively damaged a Beerwah home this afternoon.

The emergency calls came through about 4.15pm and just before 5pm the four fire crews at the scene had managed to bring the fire under control.

There were intial reports of extensive damage to the kitchen and garage of the Lloyd St home but it's understood nobody was home at the time.

Police were also on scene.

It was understood the blaze was accidentally lit, but investigations won't begin until it's safe enough for examiners to access the scene.
