A Coast family is "devastated" after a brazen daylight robbery left them without their pride and joy and threw plans for an anniversary trip into disarray.

Glass House Mountains couple Renae and Devery Schmidt returned home on Saturday afternoon from dropping their kids off at their grandmother's house on the Gold Coast to find their 2012 V8 Holden Commodore VSS was gone from their driveway.

"The complete shock of it was incredible," Mrs Schmidt said.

"We've pulled up and both just looked at each other as if someone had played a prank and thought this is not happening."

Upon entering their home the couple quickly realised their car wasn't the only item missing, with jewellery, a safe and even their children's Nintendo Switch stolen.

Mrs Schmidt said the family was "shattered" to have their car stolen as it was more than just a mode of transport.

"When we first got to together we both had a love for Holden and that was our thing," she said.

"We wanted something that was uniquely us so we went and bought our own first brand new car (in 2012).

"Since then it's been used as our wedding car, as my brother's wedding car and our kids came home from hospital (after birth) in that car.

"It was going to be something we could hold onto for our kids later on and a piece of history."

The couple left for the Gold Coast at 11.50am on Saturday, with their blue/green car spotted on a neighbour's CCTV at 1pm driving down the street.

"The keys weren't sitting out visible, they had to go looking to be able to find them," Mrs Schmidt said.

Along with various Pandora jewellery being taken, which Mrs Schmidt had been collecting for 17 years, a safe containing $1000 was also stolen.

"We'd squirrelled some money away because it's our 10 year anniversary next weekend," Mrs Schmidt said.

"I'd detailed the car to drive to Agnes Waters to have some time away on the weekend.

"So, that's all gone."

Mrs Schmidt said she was dreading telling her sons, two of which have autism, that their Nintendo had been stolen.

She said police had been out to dust for fingerprints on Sunday morning.

"You hear of cars being stolen and everything and everyone is like 'it's covered under insurance' but for us it's not about that," Mrs Schmidt said.

"We just want the car back.

"They've also taken a young boys only game console, that's his thing and what he likes to do.

"When he comes home and we've got to explain that to him, he won't understand."

It was a tough blow for the family, who had only just moved into their newly built home four months ago following some tough times in which Mr Schmidt was diagnosed with Lupus.

"We'd just started to get back on top of everything," Mr Schmidt said.

Police have confirmed they are investigating the theft and no one was charged.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 24 hours a day.
