A 9-year-old girl has died and a 10-year-old boy is in a serious condition after a jet ski tragedy in Pumicestone Passage at Bribie yesterday.
The two children were being towed behind a jetski at 3.30pm when they collided with a navigational marker.
The girl died at the scene and the boy was rushed to the Royal Brisbane Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.
A 32-year-old Bribie Island man allegedly driving the jetski is assisting police with their inquiries.
Police said last night the two children are not related and the driver of the jetski is a family friend but not related to the children. The Water Police and Forensic Crash Unit will investigate the incident.
