Details for the funeral services of two teenagers who tragically died at Wappa Falls have been shared for family and friends, with those attending encouraged to wear something bright.
Honor Ward, 17, slipped into the water at Wappa Falls on Sunday, January 19, with her friend Beau Liddell, 17, jumping in to save her.
Honor’s service will be held on Friday, January 31 at Gregson and Weight in Noosa at 11AM.
The funeral notice encourages family and friends to wear “bright attire” suggesting a “touch of green, orange, gold or white”.
Beau’s service will be held at Gregson and Weight in Noosa on Monday, February 3 at 4pm.
Attendees to Beau’s service have also been encouraged to “dress for comfort and a splash of colour in honour of Beau.”
A friend and witness to the tragedy, Kaylee Rainbow, shared her final moments with her friends Honor and Beau on social media.
She wrote Honor slipped away before she could reach her.
“I couldn’t reach her in time, couldn’t pull her from the water, and it’s suffocating knowing I couldn’t save her when she needed me most,” the post stated.
“She died in the place she loved most, swimming at a waterfall, the water was her second home and now it holds her forever.”
Kaylee described Beau as a hero who “will always have a piece of my heart”, after trying to save Honor.
A GoFundMe for Beau’s funeral raised $28,860 before it was closed on Saturday, with the 17-year-old’s family expressing they were overwhelmed with the community’s kindness.
A separate GoFundMe to raise funds for grief counselling for the family and friends of the two teenagers has raised $1323.
