A large grassfire has doubled in size as it makes it way toward a number of Lagoon Pocket properties, with nine fire crews working furiously to contain the blaze.

A spokesman for Queensland Fire Emergency Services said the fire was originally reported at 4.1opm approaching a property on Van Vilsen Road, but was soon contained.

At about 4.30pm the fire was moving west towards Kiaka Road and Ilga Road.

The fire spanned about 2ha when it was first reported and is now believed to be burning at about twice the size.

The eastern and western flanks are currently contained.
