FALLING asleep during a movie won't matter anymore with day beds part of the fresh experiences on offer at the Sunshine Coast's newest cinemas.

Event Cinemas staff are working rapidly to have the new theatre ready by November 29, when it will be opened to the public.

The Kawana Shoppingworld cinemas will have three Gold Class theatres with fully-reclining seats as well as two VMAX and four "traditional" cinemas.

Professional chefs will work in the massive commercial kitchen, cooking up entrees, mains and desserts for Gold Class customers with the likes of poke bowls, pizzas and both vegan and meat sliders on the menu.

Caramel Crown and Mint Slice sundaes will be there for those with a sweet tooth while cocktails and drinks will also be available.

Drinks will be able to be taken into any cinema in the complex and a second bar has been built among the VMAX and traditional cinemas.

For the past six months work has ramped up to have the new complex ready and the cinemas keys were handed over on Monday, enabling access to cinema staff who are now busily polishing glasses and installing systems.

As well as the 70 local staff on-site, Event Cinemas has its Eftpos, technology, projection, sound and digital teams on site fitting the venue out.

A professional chef has been flown up from Sydney to train the team of local cooks.

Event Cinemas southeast Queensland marketing executive Samara Whately said movie goers could expect a more automated, faster experience with ticketing using their phones.

Once inside the main foyer the new cinema will deliver a "marketplace" experience.

A standing bar will allow punters to enjoy a drink or two before or after a movie, while healthy, fresh food options will be available.

Day beds can be booked in VMAX or traditional cinemas while the soda bar will give children and adults alike many flavour combinations for their fizzy drinks.

There's also a choc top station and Parlour Lane has a variety of popcorn flavours, including New York mix and spicy nacho.

"It's more like a marketplace," Ms Whately said.

Food and drinks can be pre-purchased, or paid for at central payment stations.

Ms Whately said the new cinema had been designed with an "industrial look" and the posters would be digital.

The two VMAX cinemas can cater to 266 people each and have been fitted with Dolby Atmos sound systems which Ms Whately described as "the Ferraris of sound".

The four traditional cinemas range in size, from 144 people to more than 200.

Once it opens on November 29 the new cinemas will be screening seven days a week.
