Firefighters battle vicious blaze as it engulfs Sunshine Coast hinterland home
A Sunshine Coast hinterland home has been destroyed in a blaze that needed multiple firefighter crews to bring under control.
A Sunshine Coast hinterland home has been destroyed in a blaze that left a person with minor burns.
Fire crews were called to the home on Kiel Mountain Rd, Woombye, about 2.15pm to reports of a house fire.
A Queensland Fire Department spokesman said the house was “well alight” when fire crews arrived.
“We have four fire and rescue crews and two back-up RFS trucks,” he said.
“It’s a two-storey timber house, and firefighters are still working to get the fire under control.”
The spokesman said one person exited the house, and everyone was accounted for.
A Queensland Ambulance spokesman said one patient was treated on scene for minor burns to their hands, but did not require transport.
A Queensland Police Service spokesman said the fire possibly started in the kitchen of the home while the owner was cooking.
A Queensland Fire Department spokesman said the fire was being treated as non-suspicious and accidental.
