Father and son to shave for cancer

Nothing is stronger than the bond between father and son, which is why Brendan and Caleb Mallyon are both shaving their locks for leukaemia.

NOTHING is stronger than the bond between father and son, which is why Brendan and Caleb Mallyon are both shaving their locks for leukaemia.

As a teacher and student at Chancellor State College, the duo decided to get involved in the school's annual World's Greatest Shave event on March 15 to raise funds for those affected by the blood cancer.

Despite both of them being a little nervous to make the big shave, they're mostly excited to finally have their hair cut.

Mr Mallyon said the event was a great opportunity for their school community to show true empathy for those less fortunate.

"It shows they are prepared to do something than can make a difference for others,” Mr Mallyon said.

"Imagine if the fundraising we did this year was that little bit that got the cure over the edge...it's just inspirational.”

As a Year 12 student ready to jump into the real world, Caleb said he "just wants to help the world”.

"It's a great cause and the fundraising helps the actual research of the cancer.”
