Falls of up to 100mm are expected to dampen the whole of Queensland, with the Sunshine Coast no exception.
Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Peter Markworth said there was a 100 per cent chance for rain for the region on Wednesday afternoon and on Thursday morning.
The average rainfall for the Sunshine Coast in July is about 60mm, which has already been surpassed this year.

"There's an upper trough moving across the state which will align with a surface trough to combine for an enhanced chance," Mr Markworth said.
"It should stay on the coastline or offshore but really ramp up by Thursday.
"Cloudy conditions with rain and showers are expected with widespread falls with potential for 20mm.
"The range of the rainfall is quite high. You could get a little bit but in isolated pockets, 100mm is possible."
Mr Markworth said the focus of the elements would be further north of the Coast, to Rockhampton region, but that it would still impact southeast Queensland.
Until then, temperatures are expected to remain slightly warmer.
At the Sunshine Coast Airport, the minimum temperature was 8.6C on Monday morning and 6.4C at Gympie.
Maximum temperatures should be about 24C.
