Several people hospitalised amid afternoon of chaos on Sunshine Coast roads

At least eight people are in hospital and traffic has been affected on the Sunshine Motorway and other local roads after multiple crashes in two hours.

Traffic has descended into chaos across the Sunshine Coast on Thursday afternoon, with the Sunshine Motorway at a standstill in the latest incident on the region's roads.

Buderim

Traffic on the Sunshine Motorway northbound was heavily impacted after a single motorcycle crash at Buderim at 3.53pm.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the rider, a man in his 20s, was taken in a stable condition to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital with lower limb injuries, but motorists are asked to avoid the area or expect delays.

Sippy Downs

In nearby Sippy Downs, four people including two children were taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital after a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Claymore Rd and Bainbridge Cct at 3.15pm.

The spokeswoman said a man in his 20s, who was previously trapped and cut free from the wreckage of his car, was taken in a serious but stable condition while a woman in her 20s and two children were taken in stable conditions.

There was no recorded detail of their injuries, she said.

Emergency services were also called to a motorbike crash on Sippy Downs Dr at the highway on-ramp shortly after 4pm.

Forest Glen

Emergency services were also called to a two-car crash at the Mons Rd and Parsons Rd intersection at Forest Glen about 2pm.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said three people, a woman in her 70s and a man and woman both in their 60s, were rushed to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

The woman in her 70s suffered a head injury and was taken in a serious condition, while the man and woman suffered chest injuries and were taken in serious but stable conditions.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said the inbound and outbound lanes were closed.
