Two Sunshine Coast Muay Thai talents are ready to lay it all on the line in the coming days when they step inside the ring for one of Australia’s biggest fight promotions.

Stalder Muay Thai talents Dre Stalder and Jayden Carroll have returned from their recent training camps in Thailand and will now put their skills to the test on May 11 and 25.

Ahead of their fights we caught up with both local fighters to find out how they were feeling.

Jayden Carroll

The rising 15-year-old has continued to impress with a current record of 11 wins, 10 losses and one draw.

On May 11 Carroll will travel to Brisbane for the MTA Junior Australian title against Indi Clark.

“I’ve known Indi for a while as he’s been in the sport for some time now and he’s a good mate,” Carroll said.

“I’ve always wanted to have a fight with him if nothing else for the fun it will be.”

Carroll said he was feeling ready for the challenge.

“Fight camp has been great, I’m always ready and always giving 100 per cent into my training,” he said.

“After what I’ve learnt and experienced from being over in Thailand I can’t wait to bring it into the ring.

“I’m always going to back myself and always going for a knockout.”

Dre Stalder

Stalder has continued to rise through the ranks in impressive style, making his pro debut in October 2023 before winning all three of his fights via TKO at the 2024 WBC Muaythai Festival.

On May 26 Stalder will travel to Melbourne to fight on Roots, the undercard to Rebellion against Max Tzambazis who will be making his professional debut.

Stalder, 18, has an overall record of 16 wins and 12 losses and was excited for the coming weeks.

“Camp so far has been really good, I am feeling fit and strong and cannot wait to get in the ring,” he said.

“My prediction is that I will win this fight on points, I reckon it will go the distance but I will come out with my hand raised.

“I would like to thank my coach Brodie for all the time he puts into me, my teammates and gym family as a whole.”

New beginnings for husband and wife duo

Stalder Muay Thai owners Brodie and Elise Stalder have also launched their new promotions business following a lack of opportunities and recognition for their local rising stars.

Brodie, the gym’s head coach, has over 26 years of extensive experience in the fighting community and with the help of his wife, wanted to do more for the current grassroots crop.

“We always knew we wanted to promote in the future, but we definitely started about five years earlier than we had planned,” Elise said.

“Having 200 members at our gym and within that a small but very active amateur junior and senior fight team, we wanted to bring a grassroots, family friendly Muay Thai show to the Sunshine Coast.

“Somewhere we can get 15 to 20 of our fighters on, plus many from other local gyms and have them fight Queensland wide and in front of their home crowd.”

On May 18, Conquest Promotions will host their fourth event at the Caloundra RSL.

“I don’t do things in halves and the response has been phenomenal,” Stalder said.

“From the well-matched fights, gyms bringing positive energy and prepared fighters, the crowd of 500-700 people filling the Caloundra RSL diamond function room and fighters asking to be on our next card, we’re beaming with pride.”

Stalder said she had plans of arranging some State of Origin fight nights and wasn’t ruling out the opportunity to add pro fighters to their show.

“For us, like our gym, it’s always been about developing a strong future in the sport and that starts from the ground up but there’s always a maybe,” she said.

“It’s been great so far and a big thankyou goes to our show sponsors, gyms, fighters, parents, volunteers, friends and the Caloundra RSL for helping us along.”
