A tight-knit Coast community has rallied around a family after their child died in a tragic accident.

The two-year-old girl was rushed to hospital after a blind cord wrapped around her neck on Sunday.

She couldn't be saved.

Melissa Sanham took to social media to thank the community for its support.

"The Palmwoods community is a tight-knit family in times of need and are wanting to support this family in any way we can," she said.

"I understand this is an extremely difficult time for them and want to respect their privacy.

"Thank you to everyone who has donated to the family so far."

Rochelle Wright who said she was a close friend of the mother also thanked supporters on social media.

"I know the family very well, the mum is a close friend of mine and she is devastated," she said.

"She is surrounded and supported by family and close friends and she does want everyone to respect her privacy.

"Thank you to everyone for being kind and caring."

It is the second example of the Sunshine Coast community offering support in times of need in less than a week.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the devastated fiancee of the man who died following a fall at a Coast skate park on November 24 conceive his child.

The account for Chris Pinto's partner Jess Claassens has reached nearly $17,000.

The Daily has reached out to speak with group members to offer its support.
