A former Chancellor State College student will spend Christmas behind bars after he was charged with being involved in a commercial trafficking business worth $32,000, where he supplied four different types of drugs.

Dominic Joseph Stewart, 20, faces a raft of charges including four counts of trafficking, supplying weapons, five counts of supplying drugs, evasion and possessing drugs.

His solicitor Alan Phillips started to apply for bail on Mr Stewart’s behalf before it was adjourned until February 3, 2023, so he could obtain more documentation.

Police will allege the Mooloolaba man trafficked methamphetamine, MDMA, LSD and cannabis.

Police prosecutor Rebecca Lambert told Maroochydore Magistrates Court Mr Stewart was charged as a result of a protracted ongoing drug trafficking investigation and had two co-accused.

Senior constable Lambert said while Mr Stewart refused to give police his phone passcode, messages on his co-accused’s phone indicated Mr Stewart was allegedly supplying directly to them.

On average Mr Stewart was allegedly supplying drugs with transactions between $1800 to $2000, multiple times a week.

The court heard a tick sheet showing a commercial trafficking business of $32,000 was allegedly found by police along with a video of Mr Stewart with a loaded shotgun.

The evade police was as a result of an attempted intercept at Buderim Ave on October 10 where Mr Stewart was allegedly on a weapons run and police tried to intercept him.

Mr Stewart was allegedly seen to throw a package out the window that was suspected to be 80g of methamphetamine but the analysis was still pending.

On October 12, Mr Stewart’s address was searched where police allegedly found valium, Viagra tablets, 28g of methamphetamine, steroids, ammunition, a significant amount of cash and cannabis.

Police also allegedly found two tick sheets from March 18 where eight customers owed $18,800 and 12 customers owed $49,300.

Another tick sheet from June 2 had $48,200 owing.

Defence lawyer Alan Phillips said his client could be put on strict bail conditions including that he reside at his mother’s house, be on a curfew and have a GPS tracker.

Mr Phillips said Mr Stewart would also be working full time and would be looking into a mental health care plan and drug counselling.

Mr Phillips also pointed out Mr Stewart’s age and how 63 days in jail was a long time for a young person.

The matter was adjourned to February 3, 2023.
