MORE people have contacted the Daily to say the felt the magnitude 4.0 earthquake that hit off the coast of Fraser Island last week.
The quake was detected by Geosciences Australia at 6.45am Friday, about 150km east of Fraser Island 10km deep, just past the edge of the continental shelf.
The quake happened close to two previous, larger, earthquakes that have struck the area this year
The registered zone where people were expected to feel the the quake stopped well short of land. However, Geosciences Australia seismologist Dan Jaksa said someone in a quiet area might notice the actual quake while people around them did not.
Several people came forward on Friday to say they noticed the quake, with more emerging Friday night and over the weekend.
A Fraser Island resident said he noticed the quake at his home at Eurong.
"Definitely felt the small tremor shake the house for a few seconds at 6:43 on my watch," he said in an email to the Daily.
"I have felt small quakes in Japan and L.A. in the past and it was definitely a shake. Definitely not machinery! Was quietly reading the paper online sitting on the sofa."
Chris Hobel, 64, said she noticed the quake at Sunrise Beach, saying it shook an internal sliding door at her place.
Both Fraser and Sunrise Beach are among the places registered by other people who claimed to have noticed the earthquake.
Of course, while Friday's earthquake was interesting, it did no damage - something nicely noted by Michael Ouwerkerk who posted this meme to the Daily's Facebook page.
