Dramatic images have revealed the progress of a mega mansion being built on prime oceanfront land at Dicky Beach as nearby residents ponder who might take up residence.
The four-level mansion at 3 Wilson Ave, Dicky Beach, has caused a stir in the community, with some initially suspecting a supermarket or carpark was being built.
But latest aerial images show significant progress being made on the beachside mansion which once complete will boast a tennis court, bowling lane and theatre room plus a below-ground carpark.
Construction on the $10m home began more than two years ago.
Sunshine Coast Councillor Terry Landsberg also confirmed that the Sunshine Coast Council had received several complaints about glare reflecting from panels on the boundary of the property blinding passers-by.
“There is a compliance issue in regards to those panels,” Mr Landsberg said.
“The council is going through a process to rectify the issue.”
Fellow Wilson Ave resident Peter McKee said the builders working on the property were fantastic, and although the building looked “blocky” he was sure the owners would have a great time in the home.
“They came up with this big property and it will be for lots of people,” he said.
“There’s a tennis court, there’s a swimming pool in there, they’ll be able to have lots of parties.”
Mr McKee’s family has lived in Wilson Ave since 1958 and the resident said he hoped they finished the build soon.
The Sunshine Coast Daily approached the owners for comment, but they declined.
Caloundra West residents Emily Pedersen and Michael Pedersen have speculated for months over who might own the property.
“We didn’t really know what was happening and thought maybe a celebrity was moving in,” Ms Pedersen said.
“We even thought a car park at one point.”
Mr Pedersen said he would wait to see the finished building before he formed an opinion on its look.
Mr Landsberg said construction of the next stage of the coastal footpath between the Dicky Beach skate park and Cooroora Street was also underway.
Once complete, the footpath will allow pedestrians to walk in front of the mega mansion and other homes on Wilson Ave.
