A boisterous crowd turned out in force despite wet conditions to enjoy a thrilling women’s State of Origin on the Sunshine Coast.

It was a big night for Queensland on Friday with the Maroons earning back-to-back Origin wins with an 8-6 victory over NSW at Sunshine Coast Stadium.

It was a hotly contested battle, with the Maroons only getting the win via a last-minute penalty goal.

The wet weather didn’t hold back crowds, with vocal fans packing into the stands and surrounding hills of the field at Bokarina.

It’s the second year in a row that the region has hosted the women’s State of Origin, with Queensland toppling NSW 24-18 at Sunshine Coast Stadium in 2020.
