MORE than one million stamps will be on show at the next Sunshine Coast Annual Stamp Fair.
In its 35th year, the free event is hosted by the Sunshine Coast Stamp Club and will include purchasing stamps from club exchange books, professional dealers and a table full of bargain philatelic items.
President Jennifer Waldroff said the bargain table "has a reputation as being the best in south-east Queensland” and provides "an opportunity to pick up a real bargain or to find that stamp or set of stamps that will help fill a gap in a collection”.
She also encouraged members of the public to bring along their own collections as a free appraisal will be available by one of their expert club members.
Club publicity officer Peter Rule has been collecting stamps since he was a young boy and said he would love to see children at the fair to spark their interest too.
"We're trying to promote stamp collecting and it would be great to see it among the younger generation,” he said.
There will be lucky door and raffle prizes, on site refreshments and ample parking with ground floor disabled access.
The stamp fair will be on Sunday, March 17 from 9am-4pm at the Kawana Community Centre, Nanyima Street, Buddina.
Those interested in joining the stamp club can go to their monthly meetings on the first Wednesday of each month, 6.30-7pm at the Red Cross Rooms, Price Street, Nambour.
