An ambitious advocate for women in business has stepped down from leading a Sunshine Coast organisation after three years in the role.

Roz White will confirm her resignation as Sunshine Coast Business Women’s Network president at the organisation’s upcoming 2021 Annual General Meeting.

The co-owner of White’s Grocers said she wanted to give someone else the opportunity to lead the group to “let new ideas flourish”.

Under her leadership the network has delivered a first of its kind accelerated MBA program in partnership with University of the Sunshine Coast for businesswomen looking to finalise their lived experience qualifications.

She also helped make improvements to its awards program, deliver educational sessions and ensure the long-term financial viability of the network.

Mrs White said it was a pleasure to serve as president and lead the network to uplift, encourage and mentor women in business.

“My experience working with like-minded, purpose driven women and men who support each other has been an honour and privilege,” she said.

Roz White was the network’s president for three and a half years.

“It is also time for my tenure as president to come to a close, to step aside and allow new ideas to flourish.”

As an advocate for workplace gender parity Mrs White said while much had been gained more work still needed to be done.

“Corporate Australia has a focus to end workplace gender disproportion, so while there is still work to be done, the (network) stands firm to support women in business and provide a platform of encouragement to others,” she said.

“I have been provided with the ultimate backing and unwavering support from my executive management committee over the past 3 1/2 years.

“This group of competent, savvy, professional and experienced business women are purpose driven, true to their values and committed to making a difference.”

Mrs White said members could nominate to join the management committee at the June general meeting.

She said she would still be involved as a member and immediate past president.

“The network has developed a firm focus and is in a very strong position to influence the professional and fiscal development of Sunshine Coast businesses,” Mrs White said.

“Continuity is as important as creating a fresh perspective and so I look forward to providing my support to the new executive management committee as they take the banner forward into a new era.”

She thanked the network’s members, volunteers and sponsors for their ongoing support.
