Skaters have united to bid a fiery farewell to an old favourite.
Dicky Beach Skate Park was given a toasty goodbye on Sunday, with demolition works about to begin, in preparation of construction of the new skate park, part of Stage 1 of a revitalisation project.
Sunshine Coast Council has allocated $1.62 million for the first stage, which included a new skate park, public amenities, picnic shelter, beach shower, pathways, lighting, disabled parking spaces, seating and landscaping.
The first stage of construction was due to be finished by September, 2021, with work to go through the April and June-July school holidays.

Hundreds of skaters turned out on Sunday, February 28, to say their goodbyes to what had become a popular haunt over decades.
Flames were lit and skaters took to the concrete in a spectacular, and spill-filled festival.
It was part farewell and part celebration, after a long community campaign to retain a skate park in the area had proven successful, with council committed to building a new skate park on-site.
One of the skaters who took on the fiery wall was Jake Munns, a long-time local who was there the day the popular skate park opened.
One of his efforts, which left him with a few less arm hairs, was captured on video by onlookers.
He said it had been a fitting way "to see the old girl off".
Boardstore and Skate-aid Australia had also provided prizes for the afternoon farewell, which ramped up a notch in the evening as the flames began to flicker.
