The tragic truth about road deaths in Australia

Sunshine Coast father-of-two Bryce Williams has been remembered as “one of a kind” and a “great friend to everyone” after he was killed on September 6, 2022.

Mr Williams was jogging along Nanango Brooklands Rd, near Kingaroy, when he was struck by a passing car about 6.30pm.

It is understood he was in Nanango for work and was exercising after holidaying in Indonesia.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, but Mr Williams died from his injuries.

His partner, Sunshine Coast influencer and sister of 2014 Big Brother winner Ryan Ginns, Abbey Ginns, will raise their two children, three-year-old Woodi and 10-month-old Rome, with the support of friends and family.

The couple own and run successful furniture shop Huski Studios in Coolum Beach.

Mr Williams’ brother, Mitch, described his late sibling as “one of a kind”.

“He was a great father, a great big brother, a great son. He was a great friend to everyone,” he said.

“He packed more into his life in 33 years than some people did in 100 years.”

Nathan Groves, who was best friends with Mr Williams for more than 20 years, said he had a type of spirit that drew people in.

“He just had this energy and light around him that made you just want to be around him every second of your life. That’s why people loved him,” he said.

“Any time we were with him something (funny) happened.”

Both Mr Williams’ brother and Mr Groves described the father-of-two as someone who “helped so many people”, including helping the less fortunate in Bali.

“He’s saved people out in the ocean … he’s done so much for other people, and everyone knows that,” Mr Groves said.

“Everyone who knew him, loved him to bits.”

Mr Williams’ brother said he and his family were “completely numb” after the tragic news.

“Our lives have obviously changed … as the days go on it’s started to sink in he’s not coming home,” he said.

A funeral is yet to be finalised, though one service is tipped to be held on the Sunshine Coast while a second is to be held in his hometown, Blacksmiths in New South Wales.

A GoFundMe for Mr Williams’ family reached more than $150,000 in less than 24 hours and had surpassed $313,000 as of Friday.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said a 51-year-old Nanango man was helping police with their investigations, and a white Ford Falcon had been seized.

Investigations into Mr Williams’ death are ongoing.
