Aaron Pitt funeral: Details confirmed for young mechanic after Nambour Connection Rd crash

Funeral details have been confirmed for one of the two young mechanics who died after a horror crash on the Sunshine Coast while they were fixing a broken down bus.

Mourners will gather to honour the life of a much-loved young mechanic who died after allegedly being struck by a car while working to repair a broken down bus in Woombye.

Funeral details have been confirmed for Aaron Pitt, 25, of Currimundi.

The young mechanic died after being rushed to Sunshine Coast University Hospital with critical injuries alongside colleague Lleyton Bartlett, 22, of Baringa, on the afternoon of Thursday, April 21.

The pair – former Meridan State College and Immanuel Lutheran College students – were allegedly struck on Nambour Connection Rd about 3.30pm and despite the best efforts of bystanders and paramedics they tragically passed away.

A 43-year-old Warana woman has since been charged with dangerous driving of a vehicle causing death whilst adversely affected by an intoxicating substance following the police investigation.

Tributes have flowed in the week since their sudden deaths and GoFundMe campaigns have kicked off to help both families cover funeral costs and other expenses, with tens of thousands of dollars raised to-date.

Mr Pitt’s funeral will be held at Gregson and Weight Caloundra at 1pm on Friday, May 6.

A livestream notice has also been added to the website indicating mourners unable to attend will be able to watch the service online.

Funeral details for Mr Bartlett were still to be finalised.
