A SIGN on the doors of a recently closed Coast supermarket has confirmed rumours it will soon reopen.

More than 50 people were left without jobs when two Buderim IGA supermarkets suddenly closed mid-July but the North Buderim store on Pittards Rd will re-open in 2-3 weeks.

A notice in Thursday's Sunshine Coast Daily revealed the supermarket was for sale just weeks after it went into liquidation.

The Hub North Buderim centre management staff member Trish Sheils said negotiations with a new owner were ongoing.

"We are in negotiations with an incoming tenant," she said.

"We want the doors open as soon as possible, it's good news for the surrounding businesses.

"The intention is to keep it (running) as an IGA supermarket."

Former workers have not been informed of the store's reopening.

North Buderim Guardian Pharmacy owner Rami Morcos said after the closure that he held concerns for the future of his business.

"But this is very good news," he said after seeing the note.

"I hope when it opens in 2-3 weeks it will go back to the way it used to be."

Residents were devastated when the store closed and posts to social media gathered hundreds of comments and shares.

A note was left at the door signed by "loyal customers", telling staff they would be missed.

"We are very shocked and sorry to hear of the closure and we wish you the best," the note read.
