Childcare centre, dental clinic approved for Carroll St, Nambour

A brand new childcare centre and dental clinic have been approved for opposite a busy high school in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. See the plans.

A new development, featuring a large childcare centre and dentist studio, has been approved by the Sunshine Coast Regional Council.

The material change of use development application for 16-18, 22 and 24 Carroll St, Nambour, and was lodged by Victorian developer Property Peaks Pty Ltd in November 2023 and was approved by the council on March 22, 2024.

The project site is across the road from Nambour State College.

Three houses on Carroll St, all Queenslander style, will be demolished for the development.

Development plans state the childcare centre, which is further down the street than the dental studio, includes five separate rooms for the children - two designated for two staff members, three for three staff members, one for four staff members and one for five staff members.

The outdoor play space will accommodate 125 children, the plans state.

The dental studio, next door, will include five consultation rooms, an operating room and post-op room, as well as an imaging/specialist room and a laboratory.

The two buildings will have a shared driveway, with 14 underground car parks for the dental studio and 44 underground car parks for the childcare centre. The dental studio will also have six car parks out the front, one of which is a designated disabled spot.

The town planners, Zone Planning, has been contacted for further comment.

The development application comes after plans for another dental studio, headed by principal dentist at Comfort Dental Centre in Buderim and Smile Nambour, Dr Lakshmi Morisetty, were lodged to the Sunshine Coast council in August 2023.
