Plans for new wedding venue have been revealed for a Sunshine Coast suburb, with the developers describing the proposed property as a place “where farm and rainforest collide”.
The campground and accommodation development proposal, referred to in the planning documents as Cedar Banks, would encompass a total of 20.11ha at 643 Cedar Creek Road, Gheerulla.
The owners of the Gheerulla property submitted the plans to the Sunshine Coast Council earlier this month.
According to the town planning report the property would feature a series of campsites and cabins, along with a function facility.
“The applicant proposes to create Cedar Banks, comprising a venue (Function Facility) for weddings and events, and offering guest accommodation comprising Nature-Based Tourism (six campsites) and Short-Term Accommodation (four cabins),” the planning report stated.
The proposed campsite would be able to host functions with up to 100 guests, according to the town planning report.
“In summary, Cedar Banks will be a venue specialising in weddings and offering guests overnight accommodation in the form of cabins and camping,” the planning report stated.
“The proposal will support the highly regarded Sunshine Coast wedding venue market in a pristine natural setting, where farm and rainforest collide.”
A mix of one and two-bedroom cabins would be available to guests, each featuring private outdoor verandahs.
“The one bedroom layout includes a bedroom, lounge/dining, kitchen, bathroom, outdoor bath, verandah and car park. The two bedroom layout includes two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, lounge/dining, a car park and verandah,” the planning report stated.
It is not proposed any vegetation clearing will need to take place in order to develop the site, with the planning report stating the proposed works will enhance the “natural attributes”.
