Cambroon home destroyed by fire despite best efforts of firefighters

Firefighters spent five hours trying to save a home near Maleny from being destroyed after residents were evacuated late on Tuesday night.

Two people have lost their home in Cambroon despite firefighters working for five hours to control the blaze.

A Queensland Fire and Rescue spokesman said nine crews, including urban and rural firefighter trucks, were called to the Maleny Kenilworth Rd home about 11.20pm Tuesday.

He said the two people living in the house near Maleny had evacuated before crews arrived but the house was already engulfed in flames.

The spokesman said crews worked to protect the remaining shed at the rear of the property and dampen any hot spots at the main house.

They worked until 3.12am before the fire was extinguished however the structure had completely collapsed due to the damage caused by the blaze.

A Queensland Police spokeswoman said officers were also called to the scene.

She said the fire is not being treated as suspicious at this time.

The two people living in the house managed to escape the fire and did not require medical treatment by paramedics who will also called to the scene.
