A Sunshine Coast cafe owner and resort worker has faced court after he was busted driving almost double the legal blood alcohol limit in a Noosa hinterland town.

Vincent Cavallaro appeared in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Tuesday, May 27 where he pleaded guilty to one charge of drink-driving.

Police prosecutor Rebecca Lambert said Cavallaro told police officers he was driving home after having a drink when he was pulled over in Cooroy in March this year.

“The defendant was intercepted driving by police, he identified himself and breath test was conducted, as a result he was detained for a secondary test,” Sergeant Lambert said.

The court was told Cavallaro’s blood alcohol concentration was recorded as 0.098.

Cavallaro told the court he was a part-owner of the Coolum Beach cafe, Benny’s Espresso, and he also worked at the Noosa Pacific resort.

Magistrate Haydn Stjernqvist granted Cavallaro a restricted work licence to continue to attend the cafe business.

Mr Stjernqvist ordered Cavallaro pay a fine of $550 and disqualified him from driving for three months.
