FOR so long it was the tired, forgotten limb hanging limply off the side of Mooloolaba, but The Wharf precinct is now a hive of activity after undergoing a massive overhaul.

Evans Long took over the precinct a few years ago and spent more than $10 million breathing new life into the area over 2017 and 2018.

On March 1 the precinct welcomed its first new retailer of 2019, Get Fresh @ The Wharf, taking the hub to near full-capacity.

Five and 10-year leases were being signed, with tenants showing plenty of confidence in the regenerated precinct.

Renowned restaurateur Tony Kelly had helped bring diners in their droves with his two venues, Rice Boi and Saltwater, now well-established.

His new Greek venture, Spero Greek St, which he was setting up where Chances used to be, was set to open April 12, with hype starting to build.

His new restaurant was set to create 35 new jobs, on top of the 80 jobs currently in operation at his two venues.
