IN a move that reflects the changing face of the Sunshine Coast leading property valuation and advisory firm Herron Todd White has relocated to the Maroochydore CBD.

HTW Sunshine Coast has called Mooloolaba home since 1988 with 77 The Esplanade as their hub.

Director Stuart Greensill said that over the 30 years the team has had the pleasure of being witness to the ever-changing landscape of Mooloolaba as it progressed through the ages.

"Our business has grown and changed, just as The Esplanade has,'' he said, as he prepared to lock the door on Friday for the final time.

"Thirty years ago Mooloolaba was a much more relaxed place with only a few early 1980s high-rises interspersed with shops and eateries often to the front of houses and flats.

"The hotel was on the Venning St corner and the old picture theatre on the Brisbane Rd corner.

"The major banks had branches on the strip and parking was easy to get other than in peak holiday periods. Life and business was slower paced.

"The skyline is now busier with the more modern buildings and the tourist offer better serviced, but the beauty of the beach with its northern aspect remains largely unchanged and the compelling drawcard for holiday-makers.''

Mr Greensill said 77 The Esplanade was then newly finished by Forrester Parker and today remains the only beachfront office building on the whole of the Coast.

"Mooloolaba's central location within the Sunshine Coast made it a natural choice to locate our valuation business, also recognised by our major competitor at the time, Rafter & O'Hagen.

"The view, and now coffee shops, were a bonus.

"Back then, the internet was just beginning to be used as a business tool, computers had floppy discs, landline phones were our major communication tool with mobile phones big and heavy but with small screens and none of the features as we know them today.

"But it was great to be able to contacted in the field about that urgent valuation at Noosa that had just come in, typically then by a phone call from a client or less typically by those newfangled faxes with their rolled paper which faded pretty quickly so had to be photocopied to be kept on our then totally paper filing system.

"Photos of the properties we valued were taken on film which were then taken to a same-day processing shop on the strip.

"That shop had to close when our team and the estate agents all quickly embraced digital cameras.''

Mr Greensill said this week's office move capitalised on the dynamic growth centred around the Maroochydore city centre development.

Herron Todd White Sunshine Coast has relocated to the new state-of-the-art building at the Kon-Tiki Business Centre, 55 Plaza Pde, Maroochydore.

"It gears the team up to be well positioned and equipped to continue to provide trusted property valuation and advisory solutions for the region,'' he said.

"Our team are looking forward to a bright and sustainable future.” as both Herron Todd White and the Sunshine Coast continue to thrive.

"The valuation business today retains the client relationship focus it always had, we are after all another service industry.

"The residential loans business from our banking customers is highly competitive and technology advances have allowed us to invest to meet their ever tightening time and compliance pressures to service their customers.

"Commercial business is relatively unchanged where the particular skill set of the valuer is the competitive advantage for the more complex assignments.

"Our advisory business is growing as rental and statutory value increases put pressure on business, reporting requirements for large and small business increase, self-managed super funds become more popular, legal issues don't seem to be going away and property continues to be acquired for public purposes.

"Nobody really knows what our business will be like 30 years on but we are confident valuation advice will still be essential, and we will continue to invest in technology and our people to remain relevant to our clients changing needs.''
