A savvy Sunshine Coast businessman is selling his giant adventure park after building it purely to support his building business during the pandemic.

Rush Adventureland along Plaza Parade, Maroochydore, opened in December, 2020 as a 1175 sqm indoor adventure centre, including high ropes, bumper cars, a climbing arena, with a 150-seat cafe.

This sale comes after a popular Sunshine Coast pizzeria hit the market after its owners helped transform its stunning venue from a rundown shed.

Rush Adventureland co-owner Jim Perry, 69, said he built the adventure park to keep his former playground building company, MJ Playgrounds, afloat after being shaken during Covid-19.

Mr Perry, who owned Coolum-based MJ Playgrounds with his son before selling it two months ago, said the building company was in need of work, having lost $1.2m in orders overnight because of the pandemic.

Not knowing when his next order would come in, Mr Perry, who has three other businesses, created his own order by building and designing the 30-team Rush Adventureland.

“By building Rush, we actually provided work for the construction company to keep the staff on,” he said.

Mr Perry, co-owner of the adventure park alongside his partner Edwina Caesar, said he now wanted to sell it because it had served its purpose of supporting his old building business.

He said he also wanted to taste retirement.

The dad-of-four said he believed it would be sold quickly, having already grabbed the attention of buyers from the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and even New South Wales in the past three weeks of advertising.

Rush Adventureland is marketed for $1.4m.
